Nicole Eifler talks about the Challenges of Female Entrepreneurs in "Virtual Silicon Valley"

Nicole Eifler is a confirmed speaker of TEDxEdges Algarve and she will talk about the Challenges of Female Entrepreneurs in "Virtual Silicon Valley"

Although women have reached significant leadership positions in a number of fields, they still are seldom seen as entrepreneurs in the actual and virtual Silicon Valleys of our times. In Santa Clara, home to the original Silicon Valley, the number of women at every level of the technology corporate ladder is actually decreasing. Is this also the trend in Europe?

What are the reasons for the low numbers of female entrepreneurs in the Silicon Valleys? Three possible reasons come immediately to our mind: Women have less ambition for entrepreneurship in general, women have less managerial ability, and women are less interested in the direct products of the information age. But how true are these common sense conclusions? Can we actively change this situation? And will the movement into the conceptual age finally bring advantages for women?

Nicole will answer these questions and illuminate the shady corners of the context in which entrepreneurial women find themselves in the European high-tech sectors.
